TST Monitoring System

Received my system and was getting ready to install but have a couple questions.

I have Michlien XRV tires on 22.5 inch rims.

I need to set the parameters for the air pressure and temperature. I have no idea what to set them at. I was assuming a 10 pound decrease in tire pressure would be good but unsure about the high pressure.

Also about tire temperature where should I set it at? What is the danger point?

I also remember reading about using teflon tape or anti-sieze is that also necessary?

Ed, We have many TST users however the easiest thing is to call TST on Tuesday morning and ask for technical support!

I do not expect that you will be needing anti-seize.

The teflon tape is a good idea. Also, if you are not worried bout them being taken, you can super gorrilla glue the plastic twist to the metal frame and then put them on by hand instead of using the wrench. Talk to Dan at TST, mention those two items, and he will confirm them. I have a thermal temperature gauge and I have seen my tires as hot as 125 degrees. I trucker parked next to me asked what his were and they were the same, 125 degrees. he had been siting there for several minutes. I don't know what the threshold should be, but if you are running low on air, the tire will get hotter. Both, or any one by itself, would be a good indication of a problem.

Assuming a cold starting point of 100 psi I would suggest low points of 90 psi and 50 degrees. Highs of 128 psi an 105 degrees.

Of course this all hinges on your coach weights, cold pressure, road surface and ambient temperatures of the area you are taveling in.

I have mine set a 127 and one inner dual occasionaly hits that point. But it also has 2 pounds of cold pressure higher that the outer. I just have not gotten around to lowering it.

As DriVer suggests, call TST. Customer service is great.

(not sure about the monkey glue. I'd stick with the wrench) If you don't have two, ask for a spare when you call. Pretty sure they will send you one N/C.

Actually Dan at TST suggests glue for 510 model sensors. On 507 model sensors the antitheft housing is removeable using the wrench if you need to and are not concerned about theft. It also reduces the weight of the sensors if you are concerned about rubber valve stems on the toad.
Sensors are not interchangable between 507 and 510

Not to hijack the thread, but how do you know if you have 510's or 507's?

Yes ........ 507 is flat in back like a LED TV. 510 is sloped in back like old tube type TV
