Updating kitchen

Wife decided she wanted a different look in the kitchen so we installed these 'Smart Tiles'. Looks pretty much like real tile but without the weight and the worry of breaking or coming apart going down the road. Before and after picture.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

Did you apply directly to the wall paper or did you remove the paper?

That seems to be the latest trend in back splashes and really looks nice. An inexpensive way to update the look of the coach. Nice job!

Looks nice. How did you tile around the window? Can you give us a closer picture?

We got the 'smart tile' at Home Depot.

We cleaned the 'wallpaper ' with TSP first and then applied right over the top. The 'tile' is peal and stick. Took about 19 squares to do this job. No grout or ceramic to break going down the road. No cracking due to flexing.

firedoc...How does it hold up in heat?

Where we live, central California, I will see temperatures of 100 degrees plus INSIDE the coach while it's stored next to our house.

We've had problems with stick-on things falling off in the extreme heat.

We are going to find out. Reports are good. But I was worried about that myself. We actually started putting it up by spraying 3M adhesive on the wall first but we are not very quick and quickly ran into trouble getting the tile placed right. Within 3-4 minutes we could not remove it without tearing the wall down with it. We finished up just using the peal and stick adhesive. Much easier, but we'll see how it holds.

Keep us updated after summer.

Nice job! I've seen a few pics of that stuff elsewhere in forums, but had no idea it was a relatively easy application. Well done!
