Short Trips

About 8-10 times, less than a week each time. Weather not a limiting factor since we are in San Diego, just have too many other hobby and recreational endeavors.

We are not full time. So when we are at home our motorhome is parked in drive way. We seem to go more each year. We go to South Texas in the winter for usually 4 months. After we come home in spring from South Texas we usually take a month trip visiting son and family then ark. then on to Branson Mo. In the summer we take a grand son to a summer camp that is a day camp, so we take him to camp in the mornings and pick him up in the afternoon. This camp is for a week. Then we go to a RV reunion in Il. for a week. Then on to Colorado for 2 1/2 months. Then we usually go to Branson, Mo for another 2 week in the fall. We also use our motorhome to visit grandkids in between. Then the last part of November we head back to South Texas for the winter. So we are in our motorhome a lot to not be full timers. I retired in 2014 and I think we enjoy the going more each year. Met a lot of great people. RV's are only enjoyable if you use them.

Retired, 6-7 winter months down south. Then the 43' motorhome sets all summer while I use the 40' diesel trawler style boat for, depending on the year a 2-3 month trip or a couple of 2-3 week trips. This year was one of the longer boat trips. We went from the Seattle area to Skagway Alaska and back, 2473 miles. That's not too far is it? Think about doing it at 7.5 mph! 379 hours behind the wheel. The rest of the time is at the house in the beautiful Pacific Northwet.

RV Use

Retired from FAA, 12 years as controller and the rest in management, after 35 years in 2002. Bought the RV, '01 Diplomat, in '04 with 29,000 miles on it. Was planning on following my youngest son around the US as he played MLB. Then grand Twins, and another set of grand twins, and now it is '18 and we have about 39,000 miles on it. Son retired from baseball in '10, and we use it maybe 3 times a year for 3-5 days at a time for local trips. So, probably less than 120 days total in the rv in 14 years.

In our mid 70's, both very good health, and it seems we just dont like to travel all that much. Heading to Lake Livingston just north of us in Texas with the RV and boat to fish for a week starting next week, the 21st.

We topo have had the discussion about selling it, but seem to find a way to tell each other we will "use it more"!

As DH still works,we try to get out at least one weekend every month. I wish there were more trips though.

Bought our first motorhome and retired 5 years ago. We have a winter lakefront home in Florida and a place in NJ. We take one big trip each year. Our trip lengths have been 3 month, 10 months (Alaska), 4 months, 3 months, and 5 months. We typically don't stay at any one place more than a week. We've taken only a few less than one trips in between. We have over 75,000 miles on the coach.

Can you adopt me? Sounds like you have the best of both worlds.

Class A. For dog shows about 14 weekends per year; camping twice. Have it now for three years.
