Using Google to Combat Old Age CRS

Suffer from Can't Remember Stuff, aka CRS?

Google is riding to our rescue: this morning, for example, wifey reminded me to remember to turn on the block heater this evening in preparation for tomorrow morning's sub-freezing startup.

Okay, what are the odds? We all know that such assignments are too often forgotten.

But, I'm slowly climbing atop the difficulty of old age-induced forgetfulness: on the Google or Gmail header, select Calendar, Create New Event, and email a reminder to self tonight at 5PM "Start The Block Heater." The program even allows you to transmit a copy to your supervisor, so she can see you've taken the initiative to remember.

Or, you can keep the measure a secret, and fool the ol' gal into believing you've recovered that youthful capacity to remember...

That's the block that really counts. I have a similar toboggan (southern speak for your hat) with OBFD on it and it has been used quite a bit this winter even though I live on the Gulf Coast.

Anything that I need to do to remind me to do something else falls into the theory of the fat chance. I will immediately forget both things, and U-NO-WHO will remind me as soon as I have a Beer in hand resting in my easy chair
