Well don't wait like I did yesterday. For the last 1000 miles I had a iritating vibration at Hyway speed. Kept checking air daily and temp of tires on the way at our about hourly stops, no problem visually. Thought just a little out of balance. I caught up to me 41 miles from any service, blew the inside dual and damaged the other. Other than $$$$ and a wait for service truck very little damage, but could have been really bad, lonely road and no one around. Ended up being a treat separation that a shop might have caught. Kinda a thrill at 62 MPH, think I learned a lesson.
OH a shout out to Les Schwab tire company.

The most common reason I've found for hearing a "wup wup" is flat spots on a tire, which can develop into tread/belting/casing separation.(18 wheelers/semi trailer )
If you have a tag axle that will lock up the brakes before the drive/steer axle (weight differences..lighter weight will lock up before heavier weights)

<EDIT> cause of flat spotting on a steer axle tires is caused by being stationary and turning the steering wheel lock to lock when not moving, just scrubs the tire which will promote a flat spot, and may start the process of tread/belt/sidewall/flat spot damage.
