WE HAVE FOUND THE CAUSE OF OUR DIFFENTIAL FAILURE WAS DUE TO WATER GETTING IN THE HOUSING THROUGH THE VENT HOSE THAT WAS LAID ALONG THE FRAME RAIL ALLOWING WATER TO BE SIPHONED INTO THE HOUSING. THIS WILL CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE RING AND PINION AND ALL BEARINGS AND GEARS. YOU MIGHT NOT NOTICE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. THIS WAS ON A 2006 CHASSIS IN A 2006 WINNEBAGO. ONE MIGHT EXPECT REPAIRS TO RUN UP TO 5000 DOLLARS CHECK FOR WATER IN THE OIL NOW AND INSPECT THE VENT HOSE EVEN IF YOU HAVE HAD WARRANTY WORK DONE AS THE MECHANIC MAY NOT DISCOVER THE VENT PROBLEM. SEE CHASSIS FORUM FOR FURTHER INFO

You should have a 135 degree barbed plastic fitting stuck in the open end of the vent hose to prevent water from running along the frame rail and into the hose. If not, reposition the hose so the open end points down and/or back so water will not get into it.
