Extended warranty companies get a lot of bad press, most of it is deserving. I bought a policy with USA Travel Care through RVProtection.net last year when I bought my coach.

I recently took my MH in for a leak in the fresh water tank, and a malfunctioning electric sun visor. According to my policy, the fresh water tank should be covered, but there was no mention of coverage for the sun visor, so I expected to pay cash for it's replacement.

Guess what? The shop owner called USA Travel Care and they approved the repairs for both items, even though they don't specifically list electric sun visors. Pretty nice of them in my opinion.

As I have previously posted, I tried to buy a policy last January, and was so turned off by Jason and his total lack of followthrough, I decided not to buy it. I bought Good Sam instead. MISTAKE....they exclude more than they cover...

Craig:
On my GS policy, I had a hydraulic pump leak...they wouldn't pay a penny, because the fine print said it excluded anything that leaked from a seal or gasket....pretty much most systems on the MH....

I have Freedom Roads extended warranty. They paid for A/C repairs twice and replacement hydraulic ram on my bedroom slide. They paid for parts and labor but NOT shipping!

Note that a lot of these exclusions or exceptions would have been apparent had we all read our contracts throughly before buying. There are a lot of weasel words in the best of these contracts, and the cheaper the premium the more fine print there will be. "The large print giveth and the small print taketh away."

Most of us see what we believe to be true - or maybe what we think should be true - and often get a rude awakening when the need for a repair arises. These companies aren't giving anything away - they are in business to collect more in premiums than they pay out in repairs.

That said, I've had fairly decent results from the two repair insurance contracts I have bought - never had an actual claim denied. For example, have had a dashboard a/c repaired and a wiring harness and a starter motor replaced and fully paid.

That's sad. Goes to show you that not everything endorsed by Good Sam, is necessarily that good.

It seems to me that Good Sam in the past few years has turned into nothing more then a bunch of cheesey hustlers. I wouldn't buy anything from them.

When were they not? GS has always been a profit making business unit of Affinity Group, not an altruistic organization dedicated to the benefit of RVers.

I'm not anti-GS and have been a member for many years, but I always remember they are in business to SELL things to me, whether I need them or not.

Well if thet really are a profit center, I wonder how much they would make if they stopped bombing us all with junk mail hustles? Paper, printing, handling, postage = $$$$

So........what is the latest on the financial status of Warranty Experts? Are they going out of business in December?

I sent an email to them about this. No reply. I sent them a fax few days ago, reminding them about my email. No reply.

Anyone else out there been calling or bugging them about this question?
