I have a water leak on the shower skylight and I went on top of the roof and found the self leveling sealer I guess because its got a good amount of it because I resael it twice in the past, so now the sealer as a crack and thats the leak, my questions is should I just reasel it again or should I remove all the old sealer and put new sealer? What should I do, removing the old sealer is going to be a lot of work but if it as to be done I will do it. thanks in advance Joe

Think it is time to remove the layers of sealant and start again. When it gets that thick it is hard to tell which are the deep cracks and which are not.
The tools you use will depend on what kind of roof you have.

Agreed time to start over. Be sure to follow the manufactures recommendation on prepping/clean the newly exposed the surface. Since you will have the sealer removed its a good time to inspect the flange of the skylight for cracks as well as check the gasket material.

Agree with advice already given. I just recently noticed some staining on the inside of my shower skylight. I removed the interior piece and it was obvious I had a leak in one corner.

Careful probing and inspection of the self-leveling sealant around the skylight on the roof revealed nothing. I could absolutely not find any cracks, lifting or any evidence of the sealant failing. Nevertheless, as I started to remove the old sealant I found water under one corner. I removed all the sealant, cleaned the roof well with acetone and installed a new exterior skylight panel with Dicor. Since my skylight was 10 yrs old and started to look a little aged, I decided to replace the outer skin.
