Water pressure
I'm curious, do most of you leave your water pump turned on or off while hooked up to city water at the campgrounds? If you do, is it to improve pressure? My pressure seems to very quite a bit. I urn mine off when hooked up.

If the camp ground supply pressure is very low the 12v pump will run and mix in water from your tank, and bring the pressure up. A little less than ideal but helps in older parks .

I've never had to run my pump in an RV park. The only time I run it is on the road or boondocking.

If the campground pressure is low, I'll run the pump, but that is seldom the case. More often I have to put a pressure regulator on the intake line.

My pump only pumps water from the tank. It does not mix with city water.

If the campground pressure is low I fill my tank and use the pumps. My understanding is running the pos and city water isn't the best for the system.

If the campground water pressure is low and we are taking showers we will turn on the water pump for more pressure.

If you are using a typical hose end water pressure regulator, they work by reducing pressure and are not true regulators. Check your flow rate with the regulator removed. If it improves, toss the hose end regulator and get a real water pressure regulator. Look for one with at least 4 gallons per minute rating. I use a Watts N45B, which has a 6-9 gpm rating. Mine is over 12 years old and going strong.

The Kentucky Horse Park Campground has 120pounds of pressure! No warning what so ever! We were there 3rd week in June, BEWARE!

I discovered the issue when I had low pressure at a Park a few years ago. I thought why not turn the pump on to assist? Next day we had no water coming in and I discovered my fresh water tank was empty. I was told at the time that is the way all RV water systems work.

Hi Wayne, I looked for quite some time for a thread similar to this one about leaving the water pump on........finally someone corrected me as I use to do this also, and if I am remembering right if the parks water pressure say drops to 30 psi, and your on board pump put out 45 psi, the check valve on the incoming water supply from the park will close when the on board pump kicks on blocking the parks 30psi water supply, and all the water will come from your tank.......
30 # water pressure can't blend or mix with 45# water pressure.....I hope I am remembering this theory that was pointed out to me........What do you think of this?
