WeatherPro Awning

I have the WeatherPro awning and so far no problem with its operation. Ths issue I have is the dealer installed the Standard and not the Basement Hardware and the top of the roller, onlys drops 18 inches down, which is about 9 plus feet in the air. The basement hardware would drop the roller down 36 inches. This is what i see on most RVs, mine is so far up and almost straight out, it does not provide a great deal of shade. And of course, the dealer says operating normal and they do not want to change the hardware. Just wondering what issues anyone might see in having the standard hardware or which hardware most have

Thanks

Bob

Mine drops about 36", so it must be basement hardware. Even with this drop, there have been one or two times I missed the adjustability of the manual style (that is, until it is time to close the awning and all my son (8 years old) does is press the button and it retracts).

I don't see any issues in changing the hardware, the only time that would be a problem IMHO is if you have a curbside slideout that the awning has to go over.

I don't understand what you mean by standard and basement hardware. I also have the problem with with mine up to high.

I've never heard the term basement hardware but I think I grasp what's being said. It sounds like there are two sets of vertical rails and one extends down lower so that the awning gets more angle when fully extended. If that's the case, the main reason that a number of awnings stick straight out is to allow for clearance over a slideout. A number of manufacturers have raised the awning mount by adding an adptor plate so that it can extend at more of an angle without catching on the slide.

Terry, going by your picture, you have the standard mount. I talked to Dometic, and they say usually if you have a curb S/O you will have the standrad hardware, otherwise is should be the basement model so that you can get more shade in the patio area, otherwise it sticks almost straight out.
