Since we don't have a home other than the motor home we use water from RV parks all over the country. We never travel with more than ten gallons or so because of the extra weight. We use the RV park and/or the water in the tank for everything including drinking and cooking. We have a whole house water filter. We also have a water softener that we use if needed at some RV parks when we will be there a while.

We only carry very minimal water as well. An above poster commented on losing water at a CG. This happened to us in OBX this past June. I was taking a shower in the MH and at the most inopportune time the water shut off. I asked my wife to turn the pump on so i could at least rinse off. I ventured outside and they were fixing a leaky water spigot so they had to shut the water off ...at 8:30 am!!! I wasn't impressed to say the least....but i am glad we had just enough water with us.
