What air compressor should I carry for my Tires?
Hate to start a thread that seems to have been covered before but I didn't get much info from reading them.
I have a class a gasser with 19.5 inch Michelins. I do NOT have an on board air supply. I want to start carrying
an air compressor for which the sole purpose is to maintain tire pressure..What do you all suggest?

THIS THREAD has a lot of good info. Don't worry about the 19.5" versus 22.5" variance as it's the pressure you're concerned about - you probably don't need over 120 PSIG, right?

Thanks Rusty...looks like this thread likes the sears..and yes, I run between 80 and 90 psi on the coach based on axle end weights.

I carry the Sears compressor that was shown in the 3rd post of the article that was supplied to you. We have owned it for 8 years now and it has never let us down.

I would think the OP has to make that assumption. Like in an aircraft, there is an aspect to systems management where you know that certain systems are not interconnected and likely to affect each other. The need to top off a tire is not normally tied to being out of reach of power to air them up. Anyone can build a worst case scenario but the reality is that the chances of running out of power and needing to top of a tire are not highly likely.
So, unless the OP wants to invest in either (or both) a gas powered compressor or external power generator they will have to live with the slight chance they could have both a flat and have no power to fix it. Personally, I don't like the idea of carrying fuel in a bay or upgrading to a diesel just to ensure I can top off a tire.

I bought The Porter Cable. Model CMB15. Pumps to 150psi. Nice and light, fits well in the basement. It was around $100.00 Cdn at Home Depot. Works well.

I picked up the $100 Craftsman 1.5 gallon compressor. I also purchased a truck type fill tool. I'll confirm back how well this unit puts 85lbs psi in my tire.
Should I be getting a fill tool that screws onto the valve stem so I can get away from the tire as a safety precaution? Seems to me, using a screw on fill tool could blow my tire up if I dont get the compressor set up right or turn it off soon enough...Stuff happens...

I use a standard dually air chuck and digital pressure gauge for both the truck and RV (tires rated for max load @ 120 PSIG). Neither screw on the valve stems.
