I first bought this unit and it failed miserably. Certainly, it may have been a defective unit and that does happen but it really happened at the wrong time! LOL The gauges indicated the tank was up to pressure and when I tried to air my tire, the air went from my tire to the tank!

Glad Sears was near by.

That is what I got and it works great! It was a little noisier than the other one but it gets it done. It does cycle on and off more often because of the smaller tank but I can live with that and it doesn't bog down. I got a good quality 25' air hose and ditched the stupid curly one it comes with. I can plug it into the outlet at my outside entertainment center and reach all my tires without using an extension power cord. I added a quick connect to the compressor and voila!

Some years ago I bought a 120 V Coleman tank unit at Lowes for just over $100. Goes to 150 psi and does the job, just not really fast!

So Driver, on your craftsman, where do you set the outlet side pressure gauge? If I want 85lbs psi in my tire, is that what I would set it to? The manual is vague at best.

I recently bought the same Sears air compressor you have and found it inflates much faster if you set the regulator to full pressure. If you set it to say 85 lbs, it will very slowly fill the tire to 85 lbs.

I also put a dual foot RV fill adapter on it so it's easier to use. Last but not least I bought a digital tire pressure gauge (similar to this one) with auto zero and put a RV dual foot adapter on it.

Now, checking and filling tires is fast and effortless. (well almost)

Like a follow up poster said...run it up to 150 PSI to inflate tire more quickly. One reason my might want to cap the tank pressure is if you are using your compressor to blow out your water lines. Then you would set the output pressure down to what ever your rig says it can accept without blowing out your plumbing. But for tires...let it rip!

I opted for this:

OEM/1/4 in. NPT tire inflator with tire gauge (25836) | Tire Gauge | AutoZone.com

I have extenders so I don't need the dual chuck (I have one just in case...) and it clips onto the valve stem. Push the lever, adds air, let go, it gives you pressure reading.

As for checking the tire pressures, I use the monitor that came with my TST 510. I have "T" Valve stem extensions so I can fill while the sensor is still inplace. Works great.
