New to RVing and we just bought a 1993 Thor Ambassador and of course there are no manuals with it so we are slowly going through it to find out how everything works. This is actually a multi part question. 1.) I have been looking for the thermostat for the hot water heater but I do not know where it should be. Has an Atwood GH10-1E water heater. Any ideas?
Next - here is a photo of the dash switches and the only two I have figured out is the middle switch ( the one with the hole in it ) and the one next to that operates the overhead console light. Any help would be great.

I can't help with the switches but if you go to this link you will find a Attwood Water Heater Manual and there is a picture in it of the thermostats for your model. There are also some other doc's there but most are for an older Tradewinds by National. Feel free to download anything that can be of help.

There are two thermostats - one for gas and one for electric. They are fixed temperature anbd are little buttons that firt against the tank wall and only have their electrical terminals protruding from the insulation. You should be able to see the gas one when you open the outer access door - it is labeled t-stat next to the terminals. Another device is right next to it and labeled ECO (Emergency Cut Off).

The switch with the battery on it is probably the Auxiliary Start switch, which parallels the house batteries with the chassis battery to give a boost for starting if needed. You would have to push and hold it to keep it engaged.

Thanks, I did find the gas themostat you mentioned. Also thanks for the info on the auxillary switch. I am not sure it is connected but at least I know what it is.

One way to determine if the Battery Booster Switch is functioning is to momentarily push it while cranking your motor. The additional starter revs will be noticable when you tie in your house batteries. If you hear that starter motor reacting, you're good to go. If you don't hear a difference, have it looked at ...a simple fuse or relay may be the problem. Confirming its ability to function is important. That boost feature is essential if you ever have to "bug out" of a location to avoid danger and your cranking battery is marginal or flat.
...The "Booster Switch"... Don't leave home without it!
