Plenty around. Just need to look in the right places

Lot of these are 4 x 4. May not look like US class A but some are every bit as luxurious inside. Also some huge 6x6 getting around various parts of the world

Now all my previous diesel trucks dragging the 5'ers and TT's where 4x4, but not sure ground clearance and turning radius on a 36k class a would lend itself to the places requireing 4x4...

You'd likely get stuck more often just like 4-WD trucks vs 2 WD simply because owners would take more chances!

A great idea but I don't think I'd have whats needed for the patents or the patience!;-)

I think the best way would be to place a motor coach body onto a military or other large 4WD chassis.

Google "unimog motorhome" would probably get into (and out of) some places your Jeep toad would struggle with. ;-)

Many years ago 1968 to be exact I was entered on the Baja 1000 and was in Ensenada where the race started. The day before the race when all the entrant's vehicles were in guarded enclosures (so no damage could occur before the race) I was in the paddock area. There was a Ford Class A 4wheel drive motorhome that sat up high enough that you could almost sit up under it. It appeared totally stock and was an entrant. Talking with the owner revealed he wasn't interested in winning he only participated to provide a type of traveling medical center for those who needed it enroute to La Paz. At that time there was no road just different routes that could be taken from Ensenada to La Paz and almost no crews set up on the route like there is today.. Since I wasn't onto motorhomes at that time it was just a passing curiosity and I didn't keep much details in my head about it. I never saw another one and have no clue how this one came to be.

That would be a candidate for paper plates and cups and industrial cabinet door closures!

Back then Ford was supplying more chassis and custom builders were doing more with them. That has been tapering off as federal restrictions and budget concerns reduced the availability of small runs of chassis. Look at what is currently available for the ambulance and fire response trucks if you want to know what is currently going on. Some of those folks also did custom MH's but the price reflected the custom work. I am not sure what is still available new or used.

I have seen many 4x4 MH mostly class C and some class A
I saw many out on the beaches on LI,NY and Cape Cod many years ago some custom built by owners and custom built by some shops.
I would think the high cost and low MPG make it very low on a list of buyers.

This earth cruiser 4x4 is parked next to our RV. It has a winch setup on the front and back as well. These can ship in a cargo container to anywhere in the world for adventures. They are built in Bend, Oregon.
