What is your favorite black tank chemical?
TST granular was a favorite of mine. Dry granules that worked well and was easy to measure with the bottle that had the dosage dispenser built into it.
Now they are all liquid, Orange, Green and Blue.
Has anyone tried the orange and do you like it?
What is your favorite chemical treatment?
edit to add: why is it everytime you find somthing you like or that fits they change it :(

I don't like the taste of any of them!  but we use the oxyclean packets from Wally world, they have a nice foaming action that smells good too!

Plain old water & plenty of it. I tried & used all kinds of odor eliminators, but came back around to just water. For the rare times we have to go 5 or more days w/o dumping, I do drop in 1 of those deodorizing pillow packs (whatever the cheap ones are from WM). 1 pack has lasted me 2 years.
After a trip & the tanks have been dumped & flushed, I pour in some Dawn dish detergent & add 5 gal of water to slosh & swish on the way home. Squeaky clean!

I am constantly going 5 to 14 days before dumping and use the chemicals quite a bit. Using lots of water is not an option when I am out away from any dump station.
I know the tst granules used an oil in it to act as a floating surface barrier. It worked well. After sitting in the heat for over 5 days the tanks do start to smell especially in the heat .
I liked the granules because I could leave them in the rv in the winter. Maybe I'll have to go to the tablet variety.

I too don't use chemical but did for awhile use live enzymes. Keeping bleach and chemicals out of the tank that would kill them, I went for a year or more and did not have to use anything. The enzymes would multiply and kept things in check; as some were left behind on the walls of tank. Lived in the coach and had to dump once a week and never had any odor or blockages.

I stopped using chemicals years ago, just a waste of money. A good flushout system is a good investment.

Yup, NO CHEMICALS for us either. Water and a good flush only, EVEN when "dry" camping....that is to say, when tank finally needs to get dumped at an approved dump station, it's WATER only and a good flush. Occasionally when traveling, we'll dump tanks, add back some water to slosh around while moving and will add a little dissolved Calgon powder to the slosh water, which, at least we think, helps to keep holding tanks cleaner. But that's it for chemicals.

Use a small amount of granular Rid-X purchased from your local home supply store. It DOES work in RV tanks but you don't need the same dosage that is used for septic tanks.
It is loaded with enzymes to help with the odor. It isn't in the tank long enough to break everything down into soup but there will be plenty left behind and of course you add more the next time to help prevent odors.
it's the cheapest and best method for both Black and Gray tanks.
