Some friend said I should try and get better than stock tires on a new RV as part of the deal? I could see using cheapo tires as a way for a dealer to cut costs, and then rape you when they wear out. Nobody probably looks at the tires when they buy one. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

What is the type and model of the RV? If a MH, tires are probably okay, if 5th wheel or pull behind, the tires are probably Chinese, and unreliable. I've had several models of both, no problems with MH tires, bad tires (came apart) on 5th wheel.

Winnebago Class C Fuse. About 10,000 lbs. I used to sell cars years ago, and we had to steer the new car buyers by the tire guy who'd try and sell 'em an upgraded set. That was before extended warranties!

The RV manufacturer doesn't put tires on an RV, the chassis manufacturer does. The Fuse is a Class C, based on a Ford Transit chassis. I suggest you go look at the Transit or the Fuse and find out first hand. Too many variables otherwise.

So the RV dealer you buy it from doesn't mess with tires. So people don't ask them to swap out the stock tires for better ones as part of the deal. Or maybe RV tires for XX chassis are all about the same.

Our last three MH's have all come with Michelin tires under them and I always replace them with Michelins.

All the RV's we ever bought had Michellins on them as delivered by the Chassis manufacturer. I don't think they put mediocre tires on any of the major brand RV's just for the liability issues alone. None of the friends we RV with have ever upgraded tires at time of purchase either, but may have when it came time to replace several years later. I don't see buying an RV as a big fight or them trying to rip you off by selling you inferior products that you can upgrade just to make money. If you do your research, know your prices when comparing apples to apples, you will eventually end up with a deal that works for you. If you don't then dealers will naturally sell you an RV for as little discount as they can, they are in the business to make money and on some they make more, and some much less.

PA came with Goodyear tires.
Phaeton came with Michelin.

Unless the RV you are looking at has Chinese cheapo tires on it, I would not worry much about it.

Why would anyone go back to a RV dealer when they need new tires?

My MH came with Michelin's. After the second blow out within 6 years on them.
Replaced with Good Year G670's and replaced those after 10 years 4 months with another set of G607's. In 2025 I will be due for another set.

I think you need to find some new 'friends'.

I've never heard of a stripped chassis leave the [insert Ford / GM / Mercedes] factory on bare steel rims then be manufactured into an RV and shipped to the dealer on those bare steel rims for the dealer to install China-bombs on.

The CHASSIS manufacturers put the tires on, NOT the RV dealer.

Agree with the others in that the RV Dealer doesn't put tires on the coach. All new Class A's I have looked at on the various lots have had Michelins on all 6 (or 8 if it included a tag axle) places.

Thanks. I think my friend had a 5th wheel. Sounds like they put good tires on MHs. Hey I just got a set of tires at the Mini dealer. He beat the price of Discount by a lot.
