What was the last thing to break on your RV?

so i see many posts like
What was the last thing you bought for your RV ?
or what dos it cost to upkeep on any RV

and it got me to thinking

we should have one on
what broke a pic would be nice
what did it cost to fix it
what did it take to fix it

small story's of the bad side of RVing so any one new to RVing and see what some of the small and big things are that can come at us every day

I am curious to follow this thread. In the 30 years of camping, in 2 pop-ups, 2 class-C's, a small 5er, and our current Dolphin of 9 years, we actually have NEVER had anything break. I do not consider maintenance items or things that we have upgraded since the originals did not break.

I am knocking on wood as we speak!

I'm broke! from RV payments, insurance, taxes & gas but yet we keep on doing it because it's fun and we enjoy going to new places and meeting new people and making new friends. So far, nothing broke on the rv yet.

Not sure if these meet your definition of "break" but........

Summer before last our water pump's internal check valve stopped doing its job. I decided to replace the pump but rebuilt the old one and carry it as a spare.

Just before that my tranny seal failed allowing a slow drip. That was an expensive one to fix but had to be done because I hate drips.

That was a bad summer. I also had to replace the original Sony Trinitron tv as the picture had an intermittent dark green tinge. We do enjoy the Samsung LCD we installed in its place and would have probably replaced the Sony anyway since it was analog.

Before that, everything worked just as it should for 8 years.

Entrance step bracket broke, AND toilet water valve wont shut off. All in two days. Currently in the shop for repairs so don't know the price yet. Hopefully the extended warranty will cover both!

This is gonna be a fun thread!

We lost the rear view camera. Replaced it with one that could be wired to also work when the ignition is off so we can see back there while sitting in camp. Turned a problem into an opportunity.

Oh man, I'm in on this one... our residential fridge just died...A compressor remove and replace later we are back in business. A local appliance repair shop did the job for $700. It may sound expensive, but for what it would take to get the fridge out and a new one back in the rig I gladly paid it!

We put a fan in the pantry to help cool it and hopefully keep it from happening again!

Our last 2013 Tiffin (approx 34K miles) had us down for:
Bad hydraulic pump ground which fried the neautrals on the pump (missing ground wire from the factory) Warranty
Bad Kwikee step motor - Warranty
Bad Schwintek motor on our kitchen slide - Warranty
Bad refridgerator (we must not be living right...) - Warranty
Bad crank position sensor wiring harness (towed 50 miles to get this fixed) - Warranty
Leaking water heater installation seal (RTV fix) - Self
Bad furnace overtemp switch - Self
Squealing furnace motor (replaced motor) - Self
Burned up auto transfer switch (you would think we'd learn) - Self
Bad slide out Hydraulic pump cylinder - warranty

Winnebago Access- 12K miles
We had cold spots inside the coach in cold weather and venting issues after a hot shower...but never had anything break. We only had this one about 3 or 4 months but she had a good run for us.

Our Vacationer (approx 65K miles) had us down for:
Bad hydraulic pump (replaced twice under warranty)
Bad engine water pump (shelled out the power steering pump and radiator. Towed 300 miles) - Warranty
Never ending dash air not working problems - just never worked...
Burned up auto transfer switch - Self
Wet bay heater never worked - just never worked...
This is / was a great platform... I can't believe the gas rear pusher never took off.

Coachman Santara (approx 30K miles? I really can't remember)
Slide out, out of adjustment. Center'd slide out.
Leaking front light due to contact with a live turkey crossing the road...I got drenched after a heavy rain that night after said impact with Turkey...RTV fixed it right up.

Equalizer Jack system motor shorted out ( internal ground), Jacks were down and stuck on lot. Gotta say though Equalizer worked with us and shipped a new motor out overnight. About an hour to change out myself and back in operation. Before that way to much to list, but seems sorted now and enjoying the coach!
