I'm trying to figure out the correct part number for the fuel pump on my Onan generator, 4.0BGE-1R/26101C, ser# A870861035. I keep getting different part numbers fromoutside sources. Does anyone know the correct part #? Its the pump that looks like a cylinder, its not square. Or will any of the cylinder shape type's work just the same? thank for any info.

Parts book says use 149-2110 starting with generator S/N F860825893

onan 149-2110 | eBay

Units before S/N F860825893 use 149-1994
onan 149-1994 | eBay

You might try searching Onan Generators - SmokStak to see if there is a cheaper alternative.

the part number should be on the fuel pump itself, at least it was on mine-I was able to x-ref to the updated number then bought it off of ebay when I changed it out..

For reference:
Cutoff S/N F860825893 translates to:
F86 = Manufactured in June of 1986
0 = Minneapolis plant
825893 = Actual S/N

OP's S/N A870861035 translates to:
A87 = Manufactured in January of 1987
0 = Minneapolis plant
861035 = Actual S/N

So, it is later and would use 149-2110

If in doubt, call Onan with the model number.

What makes you think you need a new fuel pump? If your having a fuel problem with your gen. Try this first. Get a gas can and stick a fuel line into it and attach it to the fuel pump, try running your gen with this fuel source.

There are many threads on this site about MH gen fuel lines that dry rot and crack and let air into the fuel line. Some gens will run for a while then quit, some will not depending on the size of the fuel line leak.

One word of caution. Do not just match up the pump with another one. The Onan pump only puts out about 2 psi. Other pumps made by the same manuf. put out twice that much. We had many customers just match up the pump and had problems.

For your Spec C unit, fuel pump pressure values for the 2 pumps are located on pdf pages 49/50 of http://www.cumminsonan.com/www/pdf/manuals/965-0530.pdf .
