On my Suncruiser I had read about this hapening so I took a preventative measure and bought an Awning Saver. It's pretty much identical to Mike's device that he bought at RVupgrades. It is a foolproof device in that the awning drum cannot rotate, therefore the awning cannot unfurl. If you use device that merely ties the awning arms to the wall, the drumn can still rotate. The small ratchet palls inside the drum aren't going to hold it still during severe bouncing or wind shocks. The simplicity of the awning clamp device is a great idea and is easily turned with the awning hook from the ground. I don't think that A&E could seriously improve the ratchet setup but I do think they should include a clamp down device similar to the Awning Saver as original equipment.
