Why you should check your new tires manufacturing dates

I just took delivery of a new 2014 mountain aire and upon checking the manufacturing dates of the tires 4 of them were manufactured in 2011 and the other 4 were manufactured in 2013. Freightliner did replace the 4 tires that were manufactured in 2011. Everyone should be aware that this can happen.

Tires are warranted from the date they're put in service, not the date they were manufactured. Still good they got them more fresh for you for sure.

Unfortunately, the issue isn't a matter of warranty length... it's a matter of tire life. RV tires wear out due to age LONG before most will ever wear out their tread. So getting a coach that has 3 year old tires means you'll most likely end up replacing them much sooner than you should have to.

Most new RV tires say they can last up to 10 years... as long as they are properly cared for... but the manufacturers usually say that this is only if you have annual inspections done (some say starting at 5 years old, others at 7 years).

So, new coach or old, be sure to check those DOT dates!

Does you no good when your sitting on the side of the road after suffering a blowout waiting for a repair/replacement 5 or 6 years later, because your tires are actually 9 years old. Its no big expense for a tire manufacture to payout on a pro rated guarantee after x amount of years. How much is that tire going to worth? I had a conversation with Costco about tires for my truck. They had to order the tires in and I was asking about the age of the tire. The service fellas replay was that the age didn't matter because they guaranteed the tire. If I cant inspect the date of the tire before I buy it I'm not buying it.
