our windshield shifted and you can see light thru on the passenger side at the top corner. we are traveling and we taped it in place so rain wouldn't get into the coach. when we arrived at our destination in Las Cruces, NM, we had a glass repair company re-set the windshield. once we started home, after 1 day on the road, the windshield shifted again - exact same problem. we re-taped it into place and arrived today in Denver for a 3-day stay. we need to be back home in MN next weekend so we are going to have a glass company here look at it.

our concern is why did it happen a 2nd time? is there an underlying problem that is causing this to recur? our 1-day of travel didn't even involve alot of twisting & turning during travel.

any ideas? thanks.

Mine does the same thing. I believe the opening is cut out to much for the windshield. I have no solution to the problem,other then maybe getting wider rubber to fit over the windshield. Maybe someone here has found a cure for the problem.

I have a Travel Supreme Select and have been having the same problem. Found out the chassis is not braced properly and is allowing the body to move. We have been in this forum for a short period of time and have found out from other members they to have had the same problem. We are going to Supreme RV in Elkhart Indiana next month to have repairs done. Supreme Rv seems to be very knowledgable about these issues. Resealing the window won't do any good. I have had it done 3 times with no success.

Might give Supreme Rv a call for any suggestions.

Thanks for your replies. We are going to call Four Winds tomorrow. It is a Thor product - 2005 Infinity Class A. Very frustrating. We taped it in place and the tape held well while we drove 400 miles today. NEver moved any more.

Windshields are sometimes mounted without cement on the glass or fiberglass in order to allow the windshield to move when the body flexes. This is a good idea except in some cases the opening is wrong or the flex is too great and then you get your problem. The only fix is to cement all of the surfaces. This has been done on many problem windshields and it is usually successful.

My first question is how old is your rig.. My 2005 came with the optional self-removing windshield.. Now understand I did not order that option and I was not all that pleased with having it factory installed. (P.S. If you are laughing at this point it's ok, I'm not offended, in fact Thank you)

Well, I called my dealer and they called the local glass company who sent out a kid wet behind the ears who porta-powered it back into place and said "Duh" (I mean he actually said Duh too) "it will probably come out again"

Well he got that straight, Somewhere north of Kingman, AZ.

I put a strap on to keep it from getting worse, pulled into Las Vegas and Called Damon.. They hooked me up with Wheeler's RV (now Las Vegas RV) and they called Dave Simpson, Simpson glass, Who put it back in and I do believe that had nothing happened Dave's job would be holding today (This is in 2006 by the way 1st quarter)

Dave, however, was not happy with the result and showed me why

So he, and Wheelers helped me get a factory appointment

The factory removed the unwanted option and re-installed the windshield properly (Same as Dave did but now properly seated) I forsee no additioal problems.

So, if you are planning on a visit to las Vegas.. Call upon Dave Simpson, it's a 3 day job to do it right.. I also let Dave (And Wheelers) know what the real problem was

(The opening was not cut properly forcing the windshield out, which is why I ask the age of your rig) it was easily fixed by the warranty tech.

MY question would be what MFG built your rig? (as I want to avoid that mfg). I am aware that several mfg's have had problems with windshields popping out due to body flexing ...but why would I want a "self-removing windshield" ???? HOLY COW !!!!

Damon has had a bunch of windshields that come out and I know of one Fleetwood. Fortunately my Damon has been good.

we have had our windshield repaired in Denver at the Elite Glass. They did a wonderful job and completely cemented the entire windshield back into place. It is guaranteed so if it happens again, we won't have to pay. We feel pretty confident. The manager told us that in 2007, RV manufacturers started using glue to install the windshields. Ours is a 2005 Thor Infinity class A.

Well, as I said, My damon had that problem.. Damon fixed it, and they fixed it right

One thing that may make a difference... As I said above Guardian Glass just pushed it back in place (Well Porta-powered) Beyond that they did nothing

Dave simpson removed the windshield and the gasket, he re-installed the gasket with a special adheasive (Poly something, I forget which just now, Relative I think of Gorilla Glue), He let that sit and then gave the windsiheld/gasket contact area a coat of adheasive and re-installed the glass.. Again he let that sit, total 3 days.

That worked. and worked well.. But he was not happy with the way the windshield was sitting on the front cap.. So we had Damon re-cut the opening

Damon, on the 2nd try, also used the same adheasive Mr. Simpson used

I expect my windshield to come out again.... Basically never (When someone forces it out, not until)

IT has been bothering me I could not remember the "Something" POLYUREATHANE However it is not exactly that, It is something like that or so I was told.
