Smile Winnebago Factory Service - Now spoiled

Just returned from a visit to the factory for some warranty service. Now I am spoiled. How come they know how service is supposed to be done and none of my local dealers do? We made an appointment for Monday morning and you basically go inside, they call your name and your service tech that will be working on your coach goes outside with you to go over your problems. He then drives it into the service bay and starts to work. If it can't be finsihed the first day they give your coach back to you at 3:00 so you can camp in it overnight at a free site provided on the grounds. You then take it back at 7:00 the next morning and the process starts all over again. Every person I had contact with from the front desk, the service advisor, and the tech were more than caring and concerned about you and your problems. I feel lucky that they are only 2 1/2 hours away as I do not intend to attempt to deal with my local delears again. It was without a doubt the most pleasureable service experience I have ever had. As an added bonus I had a chance to meet many other owners that were also there for service and you couldn't have met a nicer bunch of folks.

I had the same experience in 2001 with Winnebago. I also had the same experience in 2009 at the Fleetwood plant in Decatur. Aren't we lucky .

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We love taking our coach to Forrest City. It's great to be able to meet the tech who will be doing your work and most of their service techs have worked all or most of the positions on their production lines in the factory so they know how these things are put together.

Mine is out of warranty and I have taken it twice to Forest City and paid the labor prices to have it repaired. I thought the charges were very reasonable and I have another appointment early July. Based on past experience I expect I'll be happy with that work also.

I agree..they know how to spell service ! I am returning in September with my punch list...I know it will get done right...just like Freightliner factory service in SC. You make an appointment they live up to the commitment.

I agree with the procedure for getting you in - it was and is great, and the clerical and technical personnel were very cordial and friendly, however when it came to the actual service I had a totally different experience which has been expressed in previous post. I don't believe I will be back there - nor purchase another product from them. Again, now, this is just my personal experience and many have had pleasant ones like you have had.
