Your thoughts on a 2014 Fleetwood Excursion.

I was looking at a 2014 Fleetwood Excursion model 35B and I liked the floorplan. But I really don't know anything about Fleetwoods. Their reliability, longevity, service, & quirks. They are asking $169,000. for it. Is that a good price? Is it a quality motor home? Please clue me in because we are in the market for a class A.
Thanks,
Jim

Fleetwood is a good company with great customer service, I have had two FW TT's and two FW MH's my current one is a high end Fleetwood called American Coach. I have had good service from all of them. Don't know about your floorplan or quirks on that model.

Can't go wrong with a Fleetwood. If you like that excursion, know that you are dealing with one of the best companies.

Hope you are not a tall person. Fleetwood beds are only 75" long rather than the normal queen length of 80". Fun finding shorter sheets.

I've got the same queen mattress in my coach as I do in my house.

The model OP asked about only has 75" long queen bed. Not familiar with all Fleetwoods.
That is what turned us off looking at models we were shopping for

I have a FW Excursion - put a full size queen foam topper on the bed and it is great. The coach is fantastic - we are really enjoying it. And yes, 169,000 is a very good price.

That sounds like an easy fix. I never even thought about the bed being short, and I'm 6'3". Glad to hear that you are really enjoying it! Those kinds of endorsement go a long way with me.

Overall a very decent coach for the money, but 2 other things you might want to look into a bit more:

1) The ride quality on these is not very friendly...... you should drive it first - it may be ok for you guys. To me it feels like driving an F-350 4x4 empty over a bumpy road.

2) The house battery placement will drive you mad when trying to do the simplest of tasks such as even checking the water levels in them. A must-have is a remote watering fill and visual/lighted water level kit.

I disagree with #1. The ride is fine - remember, the OP is looking at the 35B which has a bit longer wheelbase. I did put a Safe T Plus on mine to help with the play in the steering wheel (I'm used to a corvette and bmw). Helped a lot. My prior C on a Sprinter chassis also needed a beefed up bar as well.

As far as #2. Agree. FW didn't do any favors with the battery placement. I did put a watering system in for $165. Works great - no more problem.

My two cents anyway. I'm extremely happy with the coach and Fleetwood at this point in time.

Horizonchase - your picture looks like a C on a Sprinter Chassis. We had a Forest River Solera on Sprinter Chassis - 2012. I added a Hellwig Sway bar to mine to help with the wind hitting the coach. It helped a lot. There isn't as much wind feeling in the Excursion as there was in the Sprinter (not sure why - should be more???) Anyway ... good luck with your decision. It's all good!
