I have a 1997 Bounder that had been neglected for years, it was very dull. This past week I removed all the old finish whith Bar Keepers Friend, Dawn Dish Soap and Mr. Clean & Cleaned with TSP . Today I put 5 coats of Zep High Traffic Floor Wax on it. It is just beautiful. Can see myself in the finish. This is the only way to go. Should get better fuel milage now.

I'm doing my 97 Georgieboy now. I have cleaned the roof, and the fiberglass on the Moho. I haven't been able to find Bar Keepers soap here in southern Ontario. I used Vim and that has taken off any black spotting the was on it but I'm not happy with the finish. I think I can get some more oxidation off by buffing with a compound or something.
I just hope that mine turns out as good as yours, Great job

This is my first time with the ZEP treatment. Everyone says it should last at least 2-3 years. Before winter comes I'm going to put another coat on it. Hopefully it will last more than 3 years.

How about posting some photos of what it looks like in a couple or three months - that will be the test

Plenty of detail and pictures on this thread. If your gel coat is dull, aged and oxidized, it's better than anything else on the market- it will astonish you

We've been using Red Max Pro (AKA Zep) since 2011. A single wipe-on coat once a year keeps it looking like new.

We fulltime so our coach is never inside; its withstood salt, 100+ degree heat and dust storms. Try it and you'll be a believer.

I checked CTC today and found Bar Keepers Friend in powder form, there was no paste form avalible. The Vim did a decent job but it didn't do much for the oxidation. I'll try the Bar Keepers Friend in the morning. I picked up a small buffer just incase I need it. I'd like to get the oxidation off before I go any further. The caps look good but the sides need more work.

The Bar Keepers Friend is a mild abrasive powder. It is ALL you will need to use. The oxalic acid in it has a bleaching effect as well, just make sure to rinse really well. A gentle washing with Dawn (or whatever soap you like) afterwards will help make sure the BKF is all gone. Don't worry about the oxidation.

Do not buff or grind or do anything else. Don't. Do. It. I guarantee you do not need to- Zep will rejuvenate your finish without all that work.

Apply the Zep in very thin wipe-on coats; let it dry, apply the next coat (it dries very quickly- you won't be able to do a whole side before the first part you did is dry, probably). Five coats seems to be the magic number for really cruddy finishes.

Ignore how it looks until you're done applying the third coat- the 1st and 2nd coats often look spotty and bad. Once you start applying it goes very fast- its not like anything else you've used before.
