can a 05 acura mdx part time 4x4 be flat towed?
dealer says start motor and run thru gears every 8 hours of towing

Yes, the Acura MDX will flat tow with no problem. Read your owner's manual which sets out specific instructions on the procedure (which is the same for all Honda all wheel drive automatic transmission vehicles). The only negative of towning an Acura MDX is that it is a realtively heavy vehicle (compared to, say, a CRV).

Up until Feb. 05 I towed an Acura 3.2 TL for 3 years without any problems. The Acura tech sheet stated that when in tow the transmission should be in neutral and the lever should arrive in neutral from drive (not from reverse). The other requirements were: the key should be in the on position, radio, AC etc. off, and start the engine and run it through the gears which I did about every 4 hours.
