05 Honda Pilot toad rear light wiring

We are towing an 05 Pilot, and have been using a set of magnetic lights on the roof. The loose wires are scuffing the paint, and I'm ready to wire the rear lights with a set of diodes. Has anyone done this who can offer advice on where to run the flat 4-conductor wiring? I have a Pilot shop manual, so can find directions for most things. I am considering running through the firewall, and under the carpet to the rear side trip panels. Any thoughts from someone who has done this?
Thanks for your help.

I ran mine under the body pan from grill to the back and in through a grommet at the spare tire compartment, then up to the lamps. Saves tearing up the inside of the car to run the wires. Have done a couple of them this way.

Drive it up on some blocks and grab a pack of zip-ties...easy-peazy.

The diodes setup works great.

John,
Well Sir, I've wired all the toads we've ever towed and, I've done it the same exact way, on each one of them. And that way is, to utilize the stock tail light bulbs as toad lights. I was never a fan of magnetic lights, or, drilling extra holes and mounting sockets and extra bulbs, right next to the stock ones, or, fabricating a "light bar" to installed in the trailer hitch receiver of the toad. Lot's of folks use those methods for toad lighting and, it works for them.

But, to answer your question, I wired our last toad, a '11 Honda CRV EX-L 4WD using the method you're thinking about. I'm sending along a drawing I did so that it might help you, if you decide to do it this way. If you've got any questions, PM me and I'd be very happy to help. Good luck.
Scott
