Is the v6 AWD 05 saturn vue towable?

To the best of my knowledge, yes it is. My 04 was and the powertrain was the same in 05.

I would also say that it is. Our 06 V6 AWD is. Check the Blue Ox website for additional info and usually they have notes to vehicles that need modification if not towable four flat. Good luck and keep us posted.

We have an '06 Vue (V6 AWD), which is identical to our daughter's '05 Vue except for cosmetic details. They both use an engine/transaxle from Honda. The '06 Vue is towable and I'm sure the '05 is, too. There are a number of iRV2 members who tow an '05 through '09 Saturn Vue. They changed the Vue in '08 and '09 and it uses a different engine/transaxle, but it is still towable.

If you're thinking about buying an '05 Vue, ask to check the owner's manual before you sign just to be 100% sure. There is a section on recreational towing in the manual.

I have a buddy with an '05 V6 AWD Vue and he tows it with no problems. The only Vues in the '05 area that I'm pretty sure weren't towable were the Redline models.

BTW, Roadmaster's baseplate for the '05 V6 AWD is one of the easiest to install that I've ever seen. My '05 4cyl 5sp, on the other hand, required drilling 4 new holes through the subframe, in two cases through existing holes which were offset to the new hole direction. It is finally done but wasn't easy. Roadmaster's original instructions made it more difficult, at least for me. The AWD baseplate by a comparison required no drilling.

thanks all for the info, changing horses midstream & am going to a newer model w/lower miles. Found out today that even the FWD is towable without mods.

Fred, Yes that is what I am running, an FWD with a 4 banger.

Blue Ox baseplate & Aladdin tow bar, Blue Ox bulb kit and the amazing SMI Stay-In-Play DUO. No drop bar required on the 08.

Fred B. I can assure you that the '05,AWD,V-6 is flat towable as we own one and have had ours since the start of the '05 RV season here in New England. So far, it has bewen trouble free from Connecticut to northern MI and many Midwest states. We tow with a Brake Buddy and a Road Master tow bar.MH doesn't even know its there.

we have an 04 vue awd, red line that is flat towable. we looked in our owners manual. the info should be toward the back of your book.

We looked at a Saturn Vue this past weekend, I don't fit!

So we went and checked out some others and found I do fit into a Honda CR-V!

And my wife likes it!

So now we are trying to decide which color we like best.

They both seemed well suited for our intended use but I was surprised at the lack of leg room in the Vue compared to the CR-V.

Easyrider, That's too bad but the CR-V is a good choice. I'm 6 foot+ and some 260 pounds and I fit just great! Perhaps your seat wasn't adjusted properly not sure. The shifter in the CR-V drives me ballistic, I just can't stand it but that just a personal thing.

I'd looked at CR-Vs when I was car shopping a few months back. I understand that some of the Hondas, while towable 4 down, require stopping every 4 hours and running the toad's engine for a period of time, cycling through the gears. I never found a CR-V that fit my other needs so I never got close enough to a specific vehicle to check out the Honda towing requirement for myself.

The Vue requires a 3 minute warm up before towing but that is usually easy to do.

Honda's towing requirements are to cycle through the gears every 8 hours of towing, not 4 hours.

Some Vue's utilize a Honda drive train and their towing requirements are exactly the same as Honda's, for obvious reasons.

Does you 2005 Saturn Vue utilize a Honda drive train??

I'm not sure, to be honest. We have a 4cyl/5speed manual. Our owners manual says that the engine needs to be run for a least 3 minutes prior to towing.

I did see an Accord manual that specifically said recycling had to be done every 4 hours. I realize that changes in both practice and documentation may have occurred over time. Had I found a CR-V that was close to what I wanted, I would have reviewed the specific documentation for that vehicle.
