Freddy, I see you answered your own question. Now I have a question for you. I have an '06 Vue. The oil drain plug is 16 or 17mm (I forget which, so I usually take both when I climb under the car) and I use a strap wrench in the filter. Where is this 1 1/4 inch socket used?

My filter is located on top right of the 4 cylinder engine, on the grill side. It's a fixed cannister from which the dome-shaped cover has to be removed. Inside is a paper filter that you pull and toss in order to insert the new filter. The dome-shaped cover has a integral 1.25" hex nut used to remove the cover.

I think my oil-pan plug takes a 15mm socket.

Ahah! I have a 6 cyl. so that explains why I remember seeing a cover on my oil filter. Thanks for the reply.
