I have an Even Brake that I use on my Honda Pilot. There must be DC power to operate it.

The 09 Dodge manual states to disconnect the negative battery as the last step in tow preparations. Without power, the EBen brake can not function.

Any insight on this issue? Would you need to run a circuit from coach to truck to power the Even Brake?

You can use a "jump box" that has 12V sockets. It is portable and can be recharged every night if you are plugged into shore power.

I had a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup in which I installed the Roadmaster Evenbrake system. The instructions were almost as bad as the vehicle so I took mine to a certified installer who said it was working as designed after installation. I left Montana and when I arrived in Las Vegas, which was the first time the toad was driven, the brakes were totally destroyed. I had to replace the rotors and pads on a vehicle with less than 2000 miles. I finally determined the toad brakes were applied every time I used the exhaust brake so on long down grades the toad brakes were on but the dash indicator didn't reflect this condition. Needless to say I trashed the Evenbrake and installed the M&G Brake system that I dearly love. It usually took me about 10 minutes to set up the Evenbrake but I can hook up my M&G system in about 5 seconds and it's fail safe and works perfectly. Good luck with your Evenbrake and the vague instructions.

Just wire a 12v outlet direct to the battery and plug your brake unit into that instead of the dashboard outlet. Then you can disconnect batetry power to the rest of the vehicle. Make sure the additional outlet has a fuse at the battery connection, though.

Your brakes were fried by an installation error. Someone either left out or improperly installed the blocking diode that prevents the Jake from engaging the toad controller. I had the same problem with my US Brake, but realized it almost immediately.
