08 Ford Taurus X Towing

Recently purchased an 08 Ford Taurus X (front wheel drive). Added a Blue Ox base plate to the car and using a Blue Ox tow bar. Also using a Roadmaster 9700 brake system. The car manual states that this car can be towed by putting the transmission in neutral and the key to the Acc position. My problem is that when I tow the car for a period of about 3 hrs without starting the engine, the battery runs down. I thought that the brake air system might be leaking, so I plugged it in and monitored it. No leaks over a 30 min period. Then I tried towing without the brake system plugged in to the power point. The battery was dead after about 3 hrs of towing. I have had the battery tested and it is a good battery. Anyone have had the problem and found what fuse to pull or what else?

I have the same vehicle as a toad, only AWD. My first trip to Myrtle Beach, I had the same thing happen.

Instead of putting it in the accessory position, I turn the key back another click toward the off position.

Since I did that, the battery has been fine.

I have the Nav radio, so my guess is, even with the radio off, it's still pulling juice from the battery.
