Just a quick question? With the price of Saturn very attractive right now, I am wanting to know if anyone is towing a 08" VUE RED LINE, and if so are you having any problem with the front bumper hitting the ground?

We just got the book out and noticed that the baseplate would be very noticable on the RedLine. We noted that there is no height spec listed and it has a sport suspension.

Beabop, The front air dam has 6.9" of ground clearance. The owners manual states that it can be RV towed, but in checking with Saturn Corp they say no, because there could be damage to the front bumper/air dam. My question to Saturn was why? I don't think there shouldn't be any difference between driving down a road or towing the car down a road, as far as the front bumper/air dam hitting the surface. So I am checking the real world to see if anyone has had a problem with a REDLINE.

I don't have the car you are asking about but, I do tow a Ford Focus with the street appearance package. The front clearance is 6 3/4" from the ground. When towing, just watch out for "road hazards" such as the "road gaters" (truck retreads that have come off) as they will go under your MH but not the toad. I just watch out for things that hit the front air dam on the car. I have not had any problems with the just "normal" road and hitting the air dams.

Maybe this will help some.

My 2008 XE Saturn's bumper and front fascia is much higher than my 2004. The 2004 Red Line (RL) did not have a baseplate solution from Blue Ox. It maybe that the 2008 Vue RL may not have one either.

The V-6 Vue XR with the 6 speed gives pretty much the same performance as the RL however it's a bit less expensive.

The Blue Ox baseplate on my XE fits very well and when you remove the tabs the front end is pretty clean looking.

Hi Driver, Both Roadmaster and Blue OX show a base plate for a 08 VUE redline. I purchased a 08 VUE XR last Oct, GM bought it back last March under Missouri Lemon law. Had a wobble in the front end that they could not fix. The Redline does not have that problem (different suspension). I am trying to find someone that has a 08 redline to find out if they have had any problems with the front bumper dragging when being towed. I found a Redline that I like but want to make sure I won't have a problem towing it.

Driver, The wobble was only found on the XR's. When the factory tech was checking out the car he tried 3 other cars on the lot. They all had the same problem. According to the factory tech the XE's and Redline's have different suspension.

RLS, did your XR wobble from the beginning. We only have 1000 miles on ours and so far so good. Problem we do have is a hesitation when you slow down then go to speed up. They say they are working on a chip to cure it otherwise no problems.

Beabop, You can read the whole story here. I don't remember a hesitation with ours.
