Question 09 Ford Escape

I have an '09 Ford Escape that we tow four down. It has 20,000 miles on it and we just burned up the 3rd transmission. We stop and run the engine every 3 hours. This time I am installing a Remco Lube pump. I had a lube pump on a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan and towed it around 9 states with no problems. I tried to talk to Ford after the 2nd transmission went out but was told no way in hell they would install a lube pump. I now have a dealer rep that's working with me on this.
Is any one else out there having this same trouble?

Thanks, Chuck

Did you have the TSB done. Which is lowering the fluid level and remaking the dipstick

I did after the 1st one burned up. They told me they had the "wrong"dip stick and too much fluid. It didn't help the second one tho.

09 Ford Escape

Chuck - I have a 2012 Ford Escape and have just read in Family Motor Coaching June issue where Ford published a Owners Guide Supplement for the 2012 Ford Escape & Fusion that FWD, 4WD & AWD can not be flat towed. I purchased my Escape for the reason it could be flat towed. I had to get rid of a 2011 Ford Fiesta as towing it two transmission and one engine had to be replaced. Now it looks like some action will be needed on the Escape - may the Remco Pump or just bite the bullet and see if I can make Ford Give back my purchase price if I buy another Ford. Boy this is getting $$$$$$$$.

Jerry, I now have a Remco Lube Pump on the car. This is our first trip and so far so good. Ford did pay $500. towards the cost but they called it something else. I look for a recall on these cars if enough people complain. I have not heard of ONE Escape that has not had trouble.. Good Luck,

Chuck

I just bought a 2012 ford escape because the dealer and the book both said it could be towed 4 down. After reading all this I guess I should start with the pump from the get go.
