17 Ford Edge battery dissconect

Manual says to disconnect negative terminal. Does anyone know why? Would charge line from coach eliminate need to disconnect battery? Just bought new toad and need to set her up for towing.

My 16 Ford Edge was just setup...we do have a disconnect switch installed not sure of reasoning but did it by the manual...the lights will need some special wiring with tail light switch and resistors(no diodes)...on the upside it ties great!

I should think that not disconnecting exactly as the manual indicates would result in warranty issues from Ford for any problem with the electric clutches and the transmission.

The only reason I can see is they are power hogs. My daughter has a 2016 Ford Edge Titanium push button start same as mine. They had this one installed to charge the battery.
