'17 Ford Escape 4 down

The nearest Ford dealer to me is 20 miles away. Does anyone know if the 2017 Escape can be towed 4 down? Previous models can't be. I'm hoping Ford changed the transmission. It could fill a nice void, now that the Honda CRV is out of the picture. The Escape is also lighter and less expensive than the Ford Edge.

Only in emergencies, not over 35 miles per hour, and not for more than 50 miles. Why we bought a Focus and leave our Escape at home.

I have a Focus, but it's an ST, which can't be towed 4 down. I'm getting tired of dolly towing it. I'm thinking about the Edge, but don't like the extra weight and $$ over the Escape.

Better check with Ford. When I bought my '15 Focus SE the only two that could be towed 4 down were the Focus and the Fiesta. All others needed modifications if towing 4 down was even possible. As it worked out we wound up using a dolly anyway which I don't have a problem with. We trailer the Harleys most of the time anyway.

The Ford 2017 RV & Trailer Towing Guide is not finalized yet (Only a preliminary version is on the Ford website now). According to the 2016 Ford RV & Trailer Towing Guide, the Ford Escape is not 4 wheel down towable.

I wish it were flat towable as well.

Same here. We wanted the Escape, but settled for the Focus.

best bet is still 2014 or older Honda CRV. If something happens to my 2007 Jeep Liberty that's what I'm getting, Dave

Wish it was. I bought a '16 Focus Titanium and so far very happy with it and it's super fun to drive.

My 15 Focus is a blast to drive. We'd much rather drive it than our Escape (except in the snow).
