Yep, transfer the weight off of the dual wheels to the single wheels with less contact with the road.

Blue Ox says 3 or 4 inches (Forget which, read the manual to be sure) difference.
But there is another issue.. If you go to an 18" drop hitch adapter. the torque on the cross bar on the motor home may well rip it off .. I wish I had a suggestion that would work but.. Well,,, I don't.
