1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport Toad: Anyone?

Looking for someone who tows one of these Cherokee Sport units. I m looking at one that already has the tow setup on the front. It has an automatic trans.

Are these as easy to tow?
We used to own one of these back in 2000. We really liked it.

TIA..

As long as it's 4 wheel drive. It's light, roomy and capable. Selec-Trac & Command-Trac are tow-able. Towed one for 3 years. If the new Cherokee looked as good, we'd probably have one again.

Hi Brad.

They made the compact Cherokee from 1984 thru 2001 and the Sport was only a trim package in certain years so no big differences otherwise. There is LOTS of support in the aftermarket and plenty of knowledgeable folks on several Jeep forums. As Ed stated, as long as it is a 4WD model it will tow 4-down perfectly.

I have an old 1990 Cherokee Limited model as a toad that I found on Craigslist. It is a 4WD with Auto and came with the tow brackets and a towbar so it was a perfect find for me. Being as old as it is I had to do some minor fixes but it is a solid and fun vehicle and tows perfectly behind my old gasser. Sorry, but I am NOT selling it. You'll have to find your own!

We tow a 1999 cherokee sport behind our DP.....it is 4x4 automatic....easy to tow and easy to drive....we like how nimble it is for parking as well. And its a great off road vehicle.

Like I mentioned, we used to own one years ago and really liked it. Then I heard about it's ease of towing potential and was thinking of looking at one, if I can find one in decent shape. They all have miles in the 150-200K range. I even saw one with 340K on it. These units were built surprisingly well!

Here is the one I m looking at. 1996 Cherokeel

Wow...that is a good buy...if you dont want it....Ive not seen a sport with leather and power windows and door locks, wish mine had those. My 1999 has 200,000 + miles on it and still runs great, lots of power , smooth no oil consumption. You wont regret it for that price.
