1998 Mercury Tracer Wagon Tow Vehicle

I am looking at purchasing a 98 Mercury Tracer Wagon with stick shift.

Has been setup as a tow vehicle. Has bracket on the front and is wired for the lights.

Only has a four wire harness must be for the lights only.

My question is can this car be put in neutral and towed with out any issues?

Going to do more research on the internet.

It has a base plate and lights, so I guess somebody towed it.

According to the Owner's manual, pg 117, "Do not tow your vehicle behind another vehicle, such as an RV, unless front wheel dollies are used.
Your vehicle cannot be flat towed with all wheels on the ground.
"

The manual covers automatic and manual transmission equipped cars, but as you can see, they make no distinction about transmission type with the towing ban. Motorhome Magazine only has dinghy guides back to 2000.

The person selling the car is the second owner. He said the other owner towed it behind his motorhome. I may try to talk to him if possible to see if her had a problems towing it.

Makes me wonder if he did any damage to the vehicle while towing.

Things that make you go HMMMMMM
