2000 Grand Cherokee Fulltime 4x4

We have been looking at this vehicle and the 4x4 is full time. According to the owners manual, it can be towed 4 down and it has the procedure to allow 4 down towing. My question is should I try to get a Grand Cherokee with part time 4x4 drive??? The GC we are looking at has 129K miles. Seems to me a part time 4x4 would be less stress on the transfer case.
What's your opinion????

Thanks in advance and HAGD,
Alex

I have the same model, it has 2wd, part time 4x4 and all time 4x4
Has been great with only 82k miles also has the simple 4.0 inline six

I think the part-time you speak of is the Select-Trac, which if I remember correctly cannot be towed 4-down. You need the Quadra-Trac.

Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are two different vehicles. The GC must have Quadra-trac. all time 4WD. However it is the easiest to prepare for tow. put it in neutral, push a button, place in park, take the key and go. I have been towing one for over five years.
Good luck

I have both the 2000 GC and the new Wrangler, use both for toads. The GC shifter for transfer case works better then the new Wrangler. The Wrangler is hard getting back into neutral and into gear on the trans case sometimes.
