2002 Toyota Camry SE Automatic

Just wanted to see if anyone knows (off hand) or has experience with towing a 2002 Toyota Camry? First of all can that vehicle be dinghy towed? I think it can, but want to make sure I am correct. Please advise.

If its a manual transmission - your good.

If its a automatic, I'm pretty sure your going to need to be on a doily.

I tow my 2006 Camry on a dolly.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

I have a friend that has a Camry with a 5 speed manual & tows it 4 wheels down.
He said Camrys with manual shift are difficult to find.

Yah, I seen a used Toyota Solara with a manual tranny up here in Ohio a few months ago. They were giving it away because no-one knows how to drive a manual and they couldn't sell it... I should have bought it.

I can tell you that the manual does not address recreational towing directly. However you CAN NOT tow ANY automatic transmission Toyota product with 4 wheels on the ground. FWD models must be towed on a dolly, AWD models must be towed on a trailer. This has been true since the mid 90's when Toyota/Asian Warner stopped producing transmissions with the lubrication pumps driven off the output shaft of the transmission.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry Se with the 3.5 V6 automatic. Got a Remco oil pump, installed it myself as the baseplate and been towing it for 3 years and all is good. Don't even know if car is behind or not if not looking in rear camera.

You would be wrong, then. An automatic Camry requires either use of a tow dolly or the addition of a transmission lube pump.

I have towed a 98 Camre XLE for about 8 years. I installed a Remco lube pump and it has worked well. The only problem I have had is with lost electrical connectivity between the car and coach due to bad connections at the plugs. The Remco unit alarmed immediately allowing me to pull over and fix the problem. At first, I was unsure about the reliability of this system but my concerns have disappeared with time. The Camry tows like a dream. I can't tell its there unless I see it in the mirror when I turn or the rear view camera.
