Hey guys! I was wondering if you can help me out?
Can you please let me know if the mileage clocks up on a 2005 Honda Odyssey when being dingy towed? The dealer does not know and we are trying to help a person get set up to dingy tow, I have tried finding an answer on the web with no help.
Thank you!

There may be an exception, but I don't know of any vehicle with an electronic speedometer that records unless the switch is in the normal "run" position.

I have a 2008 Odyssey I am told that you have to re-start the engine every 50 Miles, so I gave the chase up. The Saturn has a fuse you pull to cut out the Odometer.

I am towing a 2006 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. I have towed it to the east coast and back twice and I figure I have as many towing miles as driving miles. It does not rack up miles while towing.
Then before that car I had a 2004 Honda Civic with an Automatic transmission and it also did not rack up miles while towing.
I prefer the manual to the automatic as it is much easier to manage while towing. With the automatic at every motorhome fuel stop I needed to run the Honda's engine for a few minutes to move fluids around in the transmission. The manual transmission does not need this step.
So I would say the Odyssey will not rack up towing miles while riding behind the MH.

We tow a 2003 Honda Odyssey four down. The mileage does not accumulate when being towed. We have to start the van every 250 miles and move the shifter from 1st gear to neutral, pausing 10 seconds at each gear. This keeps fluid in the torque converter. We have been towing for the last two years without any problems. Please remember to keep track of your towed miles and add them to your van mileage to keep track of the actual miles driven on the tires. It makes a difference.

We tow an 03 Odyssey and the mile towed do not accumulate. We do change the trans fluid each time we change oil (3K-5K) and have had no problems.

I don't think the mileage has recorded on a toad vehicle since the early 90s. I'm surprised the dealer is not aware of this.
