2005 Jeep GC toad question

Battery drains while towing. Manual says leave key in "unlocked off" position. I assume this is to unlock the steering wheel. Can't confirm what the unlocked off position is so been leaving it in "acc". While researching came across some who said it has no steering lock so key is not needed. Can someone here confirm that? Just want to confirm before I put in a trickle charger or disconnect. Thanks

The only way to be 100% certain that your Jeep doesn't have a steering wheel lock , is to jack up the front end , and rotate the steering wheel 360 with the key out .
I worked at a Dodge/Jeep dealer until 07 and can't remember exactly when the lock was discontinued , running change with the chipped keys , if memory serves.
Didn't the manual have a diagram showing the key in an ignition off , column unlocked position ?

Thanks Skip, I'll get out the jack and check it today. Couldn't find anything in the manual but I'll check again.

Followup FYI. Used jacks and determined my GC steering wheel does not lock. Went on 300 mile trip with key removed, Shift in park and transfer case in neutral. No problems. Owners manual is not correct as has been mentioned in another thread.
