I have an 06 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 that I will be towing. I've got the brakes and breakaway system covered but still need to install towing lights. Has anyone drilled the light housing for the separate bulb systems? I'm a little concerned because at casual glance, the internal of the housing looks round and I'm not sure there is space for the additional bulb. I'm a little concerned about the diode systems based on hearing others tell of dim lights. Also, since the Dakota will have the battery disconnected, has anyone had experience using the green twist type of battery disconnects? Thanks,
Phil

There are 2 requirements for bright lights.

Sufficient wire gauge and good diodes.

I use Roadmaster Hy-Power diodes and the brightness is not much different when towing or not.

Phil,

You're right, the housing isn't flat enough and there's not enough room for the second bulb inside. I tried.

Is the roadmaster universal kit (4 diodes and wiring) sufficient since the toad battery is disconnected or will I also need something to isolate the brake light using a relay since my supplemental braking system depresses the brake?

Diode system will isolate power from either MH or supplemental brake system pedal actuation. No other devices (relay) needed.
