2006 Volvo S40

My wife and I are new to the RV world and purchased this beauty.

Our New Fleetwood Discovery

We don't want to have to tow our new car, so we are trying to find out if we can tow the Volvo S40. I know the Discovery has the towing capability, however I am unsure and cannot seem to find info on, how we can tow the Volvo.

Does it need to be on a flat bed type of device?
A dolly?
Can we just tow it normally?

How do we know and what should we consider? Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much. Now this may sound like a ridiculous question, but how do I know which I have? I dont have the T5, which I believe is the AWD version, but being a moron as it pertains to cars leaves me as "that guy". I guess this means no straight towing like we see with so many cars.

How much of a pain is it to take the dolly on and off for anybody that has used one? My wife and I have been considering picking up a Jeep, and maybe this is the time to do it for ease of use.

When you look under the car, do you see a rear end (differential)? I'm pretty sure there is a code in your VIN that indicates which it is, but I don't know about Volvo VIN numbers. In any event, you either need a dolly or a trailer for the Volvo. I don't know anything about dolly-towing, so hopefully someone else will check in soon.

Call your local Volvo dealer and ask them what you have.

Hi
We have an S80 AWD, I was told by our dealer that we need to use a trailer to tow it. Hope this helps you.

You are quite welcome; wish I had better info for you. You might try a Volvo forum to see if someone can help you decipher your VIN number or if they can tell you how to determine which model you have. Good luck to you.
