2007 Nissan Sentra

The owners manual clearly states the Sentra cannot be towed flat.

However, it indicates that the Sentra can be towed on a tow dolly. However, there are no clear directions, as the information is combined with towing the manual transmission Sentra.

The directions states do not lock the steering wheel.

Place the gear shift in neutral with the key turned off. I am assuming this applies to the manual transmission and not the automatic.

Anyone have any experience with the new Sentra, towing on a tow dolly.

Assumption is still the mother of all screwups, I also plan to contact service manager about towing specifics.

Could not locate anything regarding how to tow the 2007 Sentra online.

I think it applies to both the auto as well as the manual transmission. The reason being is that you do not want to put a lot of stress on the locking pawl or pin in the auto transmission.

When you strap the front tires down on the dolly, they are still free to shift slightly as you turn corners. Notice that no matter how well you secure the car to the dolly, you will need to tighten it again after just a few miles.

With the wheels shifting or rolling in relation to each other, the auto transmission parking lock can be placed in a bind to the point that you will have a hard time gettng it out of park or damage the parking lock.

You got it right.

Went to the Dealer today. They were great.

Service Manager went out to the Sentra, took my keys, popped a little plastic cap off the box housing the automatic gear shift. Placed the key in the slot, which released the gear shift lever, moved it to neutral. Ready to be towed on a Dolly.

He advised using the seat belt to hold the steering wheel in place, not use the steering wheel locking mechanism.

I always stop within at least the first 50 miles and tighten the straps as the vehicle always self adjusts itself after a few miles.

Now, we are ready to tow the Sentra.
