I have been informed that the V6 with part-time 4WD can be towed four wheels down with a REMCO drive shaft disconnect but the V8 with full-time 4WD cannot.

Earlier posts discuss the ignition key procedure for flat towing a Lexus LX470.

Is it possible to tow a 4WD V8 four wheels down?

Is the REMCO drive shaft disconnect reliable?

WOW: Where did you get that info?? Not correct. Actually there are lots of cars, SUV,s and others that CANNOT be towed with a disconnect system.

The OP asked about the d shaft disconnect. We have one of these installed on a Tacoma and it works great. Never a problem.

REMCO TOWING can answer all your questions about towing.

If you haven't called them yet, they will give you the correct answers.

Anything can be towed four down....If it's street legal it's just a question of money! Custom half shaft disconnects can be made, locking hubs, it's all just a question of what kind of vehicle and how much money you are willing to spend. Full time four wheel drive systems can be bypassed, traction control systems can be bypassed, just don't look for a manufacture to give their blessing, too much liability.

I tow a 04 Tacoma 4x4 Double cab with Auto Trans. Set up with Remco Disconnect, US Gear Brake system and Blue Ox Tow bar. I leave the Trans in park, Transfer case in 2wd, and Key in unlock position. It is costly about 3500.00. I use the Toyota to tow because I also take dirt bikes in the bed of the truck. I have had no problems. Kelly
