I did same on our 2008 Saturn Vue, took a fuse, blew out the link, added a wire to each side of the blown fuse, added a in-line fuse and switch which I mounted on the passengers side wall. Only issue was if you were not careful when you opened the glove box it would shut the switch off and that does not allow the engine to start. Once that was determined it was easy to figure out what was wrong when it was tripped.

So what exactly does that fuse or switch disable? Is it to keep the battery from running down while on acc. or in the on position?

In order to flat tow a 2008 Saturn the manual requires you remove the accessory fuse. I did that for about twice before I replaced the fuse with the switch.

I plan on purchasing a 09 Vue already set up and it too has a switch installed but didn't know what it actually disabled? So I guess it disables the acc. mode to keep the battery from running down?

When switch is shutting fuse off. Items will stay on until the normal delay times out or door is opened. It does save the battery. My manual says to turn radio and other dash items off when being towed. Even if fuse is pulled.

After removing the fuse/installing the switch we noticed it did not do all we had expected. As noted above the radio did not shut off, I assumed that was due to the after market radio/nav we had installed, but that might not be accurate. I got into the habit of checking that everything we did not need was shut off. The fuse/switch did not affect the cigarette/cigar lighter, I know this because that is where I got power for the EvenBrake. I also noticed that if we were driving and my DW accidentally hit the switch the car did not just roll over and die, in fact nothing happened, I was beginning to think the only thing it did do was shut off the chime telling me the key was in the ignition while the door was open. Bottom line, the switch worked just fine, we never had any problems with the switch/fuse while flat towing our Vue in the 8 years we had it.

It is the 2a IGN SW fuse. Wife hit the switch too while driving it home, it didn't matter just put it back to the drive mode or the enabled mode. Now if you were to turn the engine off after stopping then it would not be able to start. It disables everything powered up while the ignition switch is on. Disabled allows the you to turn to acc. to unlock the wheel with only the 12v sockets powered up.
