2011 - 2016 Honda Odyssey Dolly

I've been doing some searching and I've found some instances of people towing the previous generation(s) of Honda Odyssey prior to 2011 but I can't find a lot of info on people towing the current generation 2011-2016.

I know it is a little bit wider than the previous generation which limits tow dolly options. I guess some people are using the Acme or Master Tow. Is anyone out there using of these with the current generation Odyssey?

We just got back from a trip from Long Beach California to Onawa Iowa and towed our 2012 Odyssey on the Acme dolly with no issues. The only problem is getting the Odyssey onto the dolly because of the wider profile. Other than that it towed like a dream. We towed between 60 and 70 mph and it tracked perfectly behind the RV. I would recommend the Acme to anyone.

We’ve towed our 2012 Odyssey to Nebraska and back with no problems. We have the Acme dolly and the fit was a little tight.

The related threads I've read indicate that the cut-off for towing 4 down is the 2013 Odyssey, 2012 and prior are OK except for the Touring model. Don't take my word for it but do your own research and check with Roadmaster and Blue Ox.

Actually the official four down cut off date was 2004, any Odyssey towing after that was not covered by Honda. However I know friends with a '10 that do it with no trouble. I towed our '05 for 1,000's of miles with no problems.

Mr. D is correct but it seems pretty clear, based on everything I've read, that Honda dropped the Odyssey to avoid dealing with warranty issues from people who didn't follow the proper procedures. From what I've read, the Odyssey and the CR-V, which is approved for 4-down, share the same drive train through 2013.

Here's a link to a thread that addresses all of this. Note that it says that 4-down is ok through 2013.

Both Roadmaster and Blue Ox sell baseplates for the Odyssey through 2013. Roadmaster explicitly excludes Touring, Touring Elite and transmission cooler models. The Touring models have a different drive train and I can only guess that the transmission cooler issue is one of fit. If you have a transmission cooler it's probably worth checking with Blue Ox to see if their's will fit.

Clearly there's a risk involved so one needs to make their own decision but it's a risk I'm willing to take with my 2011 (not yet equipped for towing).
