2011 chevy malibu

considering purchasing a 2011 chevy malibu to tow behind motorhome.
anyone towing one? from what i've read, it is towable 4 down without any modifications (lube pump etc).
how about tire wear or anything else?

current tow vehicle is a 2001 saturn which never had any problems. just need a slightly larger vehicle with more interior room.

We've towed a 2009 Malibu for 25,000 miles with no problems. The 2011 is essentially the same vehicle. Remco says that either the 4 or 6 cyl models can be towed 4-down. We installed a "fuse switch" to avoid having to remove an awkward to access fuse each time we towed. We've had no tire wear issues.

We have the 4 cyl LTZ model with the 6 speed transmission with paddle shifters. The car is fun to drive despite the relatively small engine. The 18" tires make for a good handling vehicle, although the Goodyear tires that came on it were awful.

The best thing I can say for the car is that it is very easy to maintain. Compared to some of the more exotic cars I've owned that I used to dread taking in for service, this one has been reliable and inexpensive to maintain. Another nice feature is that there's a Chevy dealer pretty much anywhere you go in the US, so help is just around the corner, literally.

We tow a 2011 chevy malibu and have had no problems. I towed it with a sprinterchassis and now with a thor hurricane 2013. Never had a problem with dead batteries. Always pull the fuse for ignition chime or use a fuse switch. I run the car for about 15 minutes in the am before travel. I also use a blue-ox patriot brake controller. hope this helps, safe travels.

We tow a 2006 Pontiac G6 with the 3.5 V6 engine. You have to read the owners manual very carefully........the 4 cylinder and the bigger 3.9 V6 CANNOT be flat towed as per General Motors.

That being said........the G6 is nothing more than a Chevy Malibu in disguise.......tows beautifully......has lots of room.....has enough zip with the V6 engine. Any GM dealer in North America can work on the G6, as parts under the hood are the same.

FYI.......the Saturn Aura is the same car too, so there's lots of options for flat towing in an assortment of price ranges.

This thread was about a 2011 Malibu. Your 2006 G6 is a totally different vehicle and has little or nothing in common with the 2008-2011 Malibu.

I've got a 2012 Malibu. No problems.
I understand the new 2013's are not towable.
We love the car BTW.
