2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Hello all,

I have an appointment next week to install a Blue Ox Baseplate on my Jeep next week and was going through the procedure in my owners manual on how to place the Jeep into neutral for Recreational Towing. Everything works fine and shifts into neutral with engine off and push button start in Accessory position when I press the button under the Select Terrain dial. Manual then states that I start the engine and check for movement in both Reverse and Drive. No movement. Manual then states to shut engine off and place in Park. There is no way to shut off a Push Button start ignition while the motor is running. If I place it in Park there us some grinding noises and then I can shut it off.

Manual also states that "For vehicles equipped with the Remote Keyless Enter-N-Go, remove the Keyless Enter-N-Go button and use Key Fob to complete this procedure." I have no idea what this could mean as I have no keyed ignition nor can the Push Button Start button be removed.

If anyone has any experience with this year and model, how do you get the engine to shut off after shifting to Neutral to put it in Park?

Thanks

When trying to shut the engine off in neutral , do you have the park brake set ?
The Dakotas & P/Us, with the electronic T/Case shift that I dealt with before I retired ( 2007) , had to have the brake set before you could select neutral and have the controller respond to the command. Could be that carries over to the ignition on the push button start equipped vehicles.

Feel like an idiot but RV There's video is spot on. At Jeep Dealer and guy came out and popped it right off. Didn't want to start jamming a screwdriver around it before I knew for sure. Thanks all!
